MOBILITY

Mobility is considered one of the activities of daily living (ADLs). ADLs are essential, self-care tasks that individuals need to perform for independent living, and mobility encompasses the ability to move around and transfer between different positions

  • Mobility:  Within the ADL framework, mobility specifically refers to the ability to move around, walk, and transfer between different positions, such as getting in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair.

  • Importance of Mobility: Maintaining mobility is crucial for independent living and overall well-being, as it allows individuals to navigate their environment, engage in activities, and participate in daily routines.

Mobility and ADLs

Impairments in mobility can significantly impact an individual's ability to perform other ADLs, such as toileting or dressing, as it can affect their ability to reach necessary areas or transfer to different positions
